About Brian Andrew Ceramics

The West Country, in all its facets – from the vibrant life of village pubs to the untamed wilderness of the moors, from the serene beauty of flowing river valleys to the shimmering silver expanse of the ocean beyond its dramatic cliffs – serves as the enduring inspiration for the artistic life of Brian Andrew.

A master of clay for over four decades, his talent extends beyond ceramics to painting, where he effortlessly translates his vision onto canvas and board. This dual artistry provides the perfect foundation for a life that many may envy, yet few understand.

Renowned for his Raku hares and other captivating depictions of British wildlife, as well as his traditional slipware creations, Brian has recently embraced a new technique: dry slip finishes.

His paintings are based on: sea birds observed in their natural habitat, the pubs he has witnessed countless convivial moments, recollections of boating adventures, and whimsical depictions of dogs, both in fields and astride motorbikes.

Brian Andrew's artistic talent is undeniable, evident in the dedicated following he's garnered and the numerous collectors of his work. While he may not have fully endorsed the use of his designs by 'Old Time Manufactures,' his unique vision clearly resonated with discerning collectors, including the late Queen.

Brian's artistic journey has been showcased widely, with his work exhibited in numerous galleries across the United Kingdom throughout his extensive career.
